Upcoming Events
Summer 2016 and beyond...
July Core Value: Loyal
Scouting Adventure: Scout Salute
A Scout is true to his family, friends, Scout leaders, school and nation. As Scouts, we showed out
loyalty to our country at the rank advancement ceremony by honoring the US flag during our
retirement ceremony.
August Core Value: Courteous
Scouting Adventure: S’more Cub Scout Fun
A Scout polite to everyone regardless of age or position. He knows that using good manners is
easier for people to get along. Let’s have “S’more” fun over this summer and take a look at the
activities that we are planning below…
Please take some time to discuss these values with your scouts.
Special Notes…
… thank you to all those that donated US Flags to our Wolf Den 8. They received many flags that were faded, torn or
frayed. During our rank advancement ceremony, we respectfully retired one of the cotton flags.
… thank you to all of those that donated their “experienced” Cub Scout uniforms and accessories. If anyone within our
pack is in need of pants, shirts, belts, slides, hats or neckerchiefs, please let us know. We will be showing our
generosity by donating the remainder to a pack in Dover who are in need.
… the start of summer means the continuation of our recruiting efforts to bring more young boys into the pack. Please
see below for some exciting activities, all of which are not only open to our own Scouts, but open to any boy going into
1st through 5th grades who have an interest in joining Scouting. Any current Scout who brings a friend who in turn
becomes a scout is eligible for the recruiter patch.

Additional Pack Information:
Parent Volunteers
We are in need of several important parent volunteer roles to be filled as soon as possible. Without parent volunteers
there may be some activities and some events that may not be able to happen. At least one parent from EVERY
family is required to do their share to help the pack continue.
A few very important positions that must be filled immediately are:
Popcorn Kernel
• Description: The position of Popcorn Kernel, along with the Pack Committee will help develop the
pack’s incentive plan and pack/individual sales goals. Attending a district training session and the
kick off pack meeting is required. This position will also be responsible to determine important
dates for commencement of sales and order completions. Once orders are complete, the Kernel
will coordinate with the district’s vendor. Additional coordination with the Show and Sell Coordinator
and the Distribution Coordinator.
• Time Commitment: Popcorn is currently our one and only fundraiser. Popcorn involvement begins
with the volunteer training mid summer through distribution of popcorn in late November.
Popcorn Show and Sell Coordinator
• Description: This volunteer will be responsible for setting up all show and sell locations, managing
the time schedule for the scouts at each show and sell location, maintaining the show and sell
inventory spreadsheet, picking, storing and final reconciliation of the show and sell inventory.
• Time Commitment: Popcorn is currently our one and only fundraiser and we rely heavily on show
and sell transactions. Busiest during late summer through mid-October, including a popcorn kickoff
at one of the pack meetings.
Popcorn Distribution Coordinator
• Description: Once the Scouts complete the sales period of popcorn, this volunteer would coordinate
with the delivery company as to when and where they want the popcorn delivered. Sorting and
storing of popcorn would be required until distributed to the Scouts.
• Time Commitment: Popcorn is currently our one and only fundraiser. Busiest after the popcorn
selling period, approximately mid-October through mid-November, including a popcorn kickoff at
one of our pack meetings.

pack’s incentive plan and pack/individual sales goals. Attending a district training session and the

Webmaster
• Description: The pack operates a website to use as a recruitment tool and also for current Scouts
to find information on events, newsletters, contact information and photos. The volunteer that
accepts this position would work alongside the Pack Committee to upload and update the website
as needed. He/she would also be responsible for yearly renewal of the site domain.
• Time Commitment: Occasional updates to the site as needed throughout the year requiring minimal
effort.
Outdoor Activity Chair
• Description: This Pack Committee position is responsible for overseeing the coordination of both
fall and spring family camping overnights, along with assisting with the winter cabin camping outing
and seasonal hiking outings. Multiple volunteers could assist the Chair as coordinators of individual
events.
• Time Commitment: Attendance and voting rights at monthly committee meetings. Securing
reservations for each camping event and coordinate hikes with other volunteers.
Most of the above positions could even be done by a team of 2 or more people. Get together with your den
parents and let’s take care of our pack so that your Scouts can continue Scouting.
There are also plenty of individual events and activities that could use some volunteer assistance, such as:
• Parade Coordinator
• Recruiting Coordinator
• Service Project Coordinator
• Conservation Coordinator
• Health & Safety Coordinator

to sign up.
Without fulfilling all of the above positions, our pack is in serious
